#Your first project
This page walks you from a blank account to a saved project with a venue and a few props placed. Allow about ten minutes.
#Before you start
You need:
- An EVT3D account. If you do not have one yet, click Start free on the home page — the free plan needs no credit card.
- A modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari 17+, or Firefox 121+.
- A laptop or desktop. The editor runs on tablets but is not optimized for them.
#1. Sign in
Click Sign in in the top-right of the home page. You will be redirected to Auth0 to enter your email and password, then dropped at your Home page at /home.
You can start designing before you confirm your email. Until you do, a bar at the top of the page reads Confirm your email with a Resend link button — sharing by email, inviting teammates and buying wait until you click the link we sent.
#2. Create a new project
On your Home page, click + New Project (or Create your first project if you have none yet). The editor opens with the Event Wizard:
- What should we call this project? — type a name and click Continue →. You can rename it any time in Project Settings.
- What are you creating today? — pick a starting point. Starter Room, the first tile, builds a ready room straight away with no more questions: a stage, a screen standing on either side of it, theater seating and a presenter on the stage. Conference / Keynote and Breakout go on to plan a room for you. Blank, the last tile, gives you an empty room. Concert, Gala and Expo are marked Coming soon.
Everything the wizard builds stays editable. Close it and you start with an empty room.
#3. Place a venue
If you picked Conference / Keynote or Breakout, the wizard asks Where is the event? — pick a venue from your library, or Build from dimensions to draw the room yourself. After that it walks you through the stage and screens, and Build it assembles the room in front of you.
To drop a venue in yourself, open the Library (the toolbar icon with the tooltip Open library):
- Switch to the Venues tab — it is the first one.
- Find your venue by name, hotel chain, or city. Venues that are not built yet show 🏗 Request Rush; click one to open Request this venue and send us a request (see Venues).
- Click the venue's tile to select it, then click Import at the bottom of the panel.
The venue arrives with its real-world geometry, materials, and ceiling.
#4. Add a stage
With the venue placed, click the + button in the toolbar (tooltip Add). The Add window opens with Add Builder first and already open. Builders (Stage, Audience, LED Wall, Truss, Drape, Screen and more) are the recommended way to build a show: open Stage Builders, pick Stage Builder, and draw a stage paved with real decks (see Stage Builder). Add Primitive, further down the window, is for simple blocking shapes.
Prefer a ready-made stage? Switch to the Props tab in the Library, find one that fits the room, select it and click Import. Use the gizmo to position and rotate.
#5. Save
Press Ctrl + S (⌘ S on a Mac). A Saved pill appears in the bottom-right corner and your project is persisted. EVT3D also autosaves as you work — the same pill reads Autosaved. Close the tab and re-open the project from your Home page — it will load exactly where you left off.
