EVT3D
Stage design

Stage design software for live events.

EVT3D is browser-based stage design software for corporate shows, conferences, galas and live events. Build the stage at real dimensions inside the venue it will stand in, dress it with scenic and screens, light it, and check it from the seats.

EVT3D is built by Troy Halsey, author of Freelancer's Guide to Corporate Event Design (Focal Press, 2010). The Event Wizard's staging follows the same working rules.

Six stage configurations

The Event Wizard lays out a starting room in any of the six classic configurations, and you can switch between them without losing the room, the headcount or the stage line:

  • End Stage: the stage at one end with scenery upstage. The most common corporate setup.
  • Proscenium: the stage inside a frame, often built from drape or scenery.
  • Thrust: the deck pushes into the house with seating on three sides.
  • Runway: a narrow strip through the audience, with house left and right facing each other.
  • In the Round: the stage in the center with every seat facing it, and screens hung overhead.
  • Vignette: several small stages around the room, each with its own use.

Decks, steps and rails built the way they're built

  • Stage decks are parametric: set height, width and depth, then add stairs and edge treatments in Stage Edit Mode. A running parts list comes with it.
  • Black skirting is the default edge; fascia is the upgrade.
  • Step units take step count, rise, run, width and nosing, with railings, glow edge tape and curved runs. They snap to the stage edge so access lines up.
  • Per-surface materials and UV control, so branded graphics land cleanly on the deck top and fascia.

Scenic and screens on the stage

Build the set around the deck with cycs, pipe-and-drape, tension fabric, SEG and extrusion walls and bent pipe, all generated as light parametric geometry. Add LED walls from real panel products and projection screens at true aspect ratio, with your content on them.

For a custom scenic piece, the Prop Shop extrudes, lathes or sweeps a 2D profile, or sets 3D text.

Check it from the seats

Seat the room with the Audience Builder, then sit in any chair with Chair View to see what that guest sees. The viewing-range helper paints a floor heatmap out from each screen, so sightline problems show up before load-in.

Hand it to the client and the crew

Send the client a Share Mode link to walk the stage in 3D. Production gets a Spec Sheet that fills itself in from the design: floorplan, product lists and video surfaces, with a 2D floorplan PDF on every plan.

Questions we get

What is the best stage design software for corporate events?

It depends on the job. CAD tools such as Vectorworks produce engineered drawings; lighting tools such as WYSIWYG drive programming. EVT3D is for designing the stage in the room, getting client approval and handing a measured design to production, in a browser with nothing to install.

Can I design a stage without CAD experience?

Yes. Stage decks, steps, drape and LED walls are builders with sliders and dimension fields, and the Event Wizard can lay out a starting stage, screens and seating for the room.

Does EVT3D handle stairs and ADA ramps?

Step units are built to a set rise and run and snap to the stage edge. Ramps are checked against a 1:12 slope. Venue and local code still govern the final build.

Can clients review the stage design?

Yes. A Share Mode link opens the design in any browser or VR headset browser, and clients can sit in any seat with Chair View.
